FOREVER LONG DISTANCE
It was eleven at night. The moon was as fresh as a daisy, but her offspring were half asleep, yet they somehow opened their eyes to be a beautiful, dazzling sight to the lives below.
"Has everybody slept?". There was no response from the other side. "Hello? Can you hear me?"
"Hey! Y... Yeah! I just made sure that everyone was asleep."
They both unzipped their lips while the night was still.
"It was a twelve-hour hectic day. I had to carry so much weight, and it feels like heaven after finally letting them down."
"I hope you realize that I had to go through the same thing today."
"Oh really? Our bad!"
"I know."
After a while, "you know what? I want to talk to you."
"Everybody is asleep. This is the right time for us to talk. Shoot!"
"It feels sad to realize that we will never see each other."
"The wall in between us will never let us. I tried breaking it once, and it went in vain."
"Promise me that you'll never pull any stupid stunts without telling me beforehand."
"You'll never admit that I'm brawny, even if the sky falls."
"You are not. Well! Look at the moon. She has always been a feast for my eyes."
"She has been the emotional connector to many faraway people, but look at us! We're just a wall away, yet we have to talk to each other by looking at the night queen."
"I would chastise the person behind this cruelty for not letting us hold hands for sure. How can someone be so inexorable?"
"Hold your horses. Will nobody help us let our eyes meet?"
"After all, we are 'ears.' Do you think these humans would consider us that much? Never."
"Shut up! I still have hope that I'll see you someday and shake hands."
"Only when pigs fly."
"I told you to hush up."
"You must be pea-brained to trust and have hopes for mankind."
"Well! You'll agree with me one day."
laughs, "Good luck!"
